Judicial Bullying Support

Welcome to the PNBA’s Judicial Bullying Support webpage.

This is provided as a service to members of the PNBA who feel that they have been bullied or intimidated by a judge.

We understand that this can be difficult and distressing. The purpose of the support is twofold:

1. To offer an opportunity to tell another barrister (‘the Volunteer’) what has happened in complete confidence.

2. To get information from the Volunteer which will allow you to take forward complaints or concerns arising from your experience.

Please understand that:

  • We need you to complete the requests for information on this page including your name and contact details. These will not be shared with anyone else.
  • The Volunteer will not give an opinion as to the merits of any complaint that you may have.
  • Neither the Volunteer nor the PNBA will make a complaint about the judge on your behalf. Any decision about that will be made by you, using the information provided by the Volunteer if you wish.
  • You must be a member of the PNBA to access this support. If you are not a member but wish to become one, please apply for membership. If you do not wish to become a member, please see the resources and guidance offered by the Bar Council and Wellbeing at the Bar.
